"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
Often times, I've heard this verse referred to as evidence that we need to know the word of God in a personal way. I want to take it a step further and say that we should also be studying the word for a deep understanding, so we're not swayed by false teaching, and ultimately, so we can be effective disciples. Now, the majority of the people around me ascribe to other world religions. In turn, I find it increasingly important to know what I believe and why.
